Obsidian plugins with #manuscript#

The Longform plugin helps writers organize and manage long writing projects such as novels and screenplays within Obsidian. It allows users to structure their work by creating a series of notes, or scenes, that can be arranged in an ordered manuscript. The plugin provides features like word count tracking, writing session goals, and project compilation to generate a complete manuscript. It supports both multi-scene and single-scene projects, making it suitable for different types of writing. Longform offers an intuitive sidebar for managing projects, scene organization through drag-and-drop, and custom styling options for an enhanced writing environment. Users can also track multiple drafts and compile their work using customizable workflows.

The StoryLine plugin turns a vault into a book planning workspace with scene boards, a corkboard, plot grids, timelines and a continuous manuscript view. It stores projects as Markdown files with YAML frontmatter, manages scenes, notes, archive items and exports, and adds detailed inspectors for status, POV, characters, locations, tags and custom scene fields. The plugin also includes a Codex hub for characters, locations and custom categories, relationship and story graphs, setup and payoff tracking, filtering, writing goals, sprint timers and pacing or plot hole analysis. It can import Scrivener projects, export outlines or manuscripts to Markdown, JSON, CSV, HTML, PDF and DOCX, and group books into a series with a shared Codex. Series migration checks that automatic internal link updates are enabled before files move.

The Japanese Manuscript Counter plugin displays real time character counts and manuscript page equivalents optimized for Japanese writing. It shows counts in the status bar based on the 400 character manuscript paper standard (genkouyoushi). When you select text, the plugin updates to show counts for just that selection. You can also access detailed counting information through the command palette. The plugin accounts for Japanese specific formatting rules including line breaks, paragraphs and kinsoku shori (line-breaking restrictions). Full width characters count as one, half width as 0.5. Essential for Japanese writers who need accurate manuscript formatting.

The Simple Editorial plugin adds lightweight editorial commenting tools for manuscript editing on iPhone and macOS using plain Markdown and native comment syntax. It has a persistent Comment Mode that turns the first text typed at an empty cursor into a `%% comment %%` block and keeps that mode active while you move between Markdown notes, until Obsidian or the plugin reloads. The Toggle comment command can insert empty comment markers, wrap a selection or remove markers when the cursor is already inside a comment. It also colours comments and native strikethrough in `#C64A3D` inside the editor, while normal editing actions like paste, undo, redo and drag and drop stay unchanged.
