The HiNote plugin brings a powerful highlighting and annotation system to Obsidian, allowing users to extract, comment on, and interact with text directly within their notes. Highlighted text is automatically collected and displayed as cards in a sidebar, where users can add manual or AI-generated comments. Highlights can be exported as shareable images or converted into structured notes with links back to the original content. The plugin also offers an expanded main view to explore highlights across the vault, initiate AI conversations, and generate flashcards for study.

The SideNote plugin adds a focused way to write and manage comments without mixing them into your main text. It lets you select any portion of a note, attach a comment through a context menu or command and view all annotations in a separate pane that stays aligned with the active file. Each entry in the pane acts as a navigation point, instantly jumping you to the relevant section when clicked. You can edit or delete comments directly from this view and switch sorting modes depending on whether you want the flow of the document or the creation timeline.

The AIditor plugin attaches margin annotations to individual blocks without rewriting their prose. Block references anchor comments inside notes, while annotation data stays in a central JSON file in the vault. Comments survive edits, sync and reopening. Resolving an annotation archives it rather than deleting it and resolved comments can be reopened. If an anchor disappears, the annotation becomes orphaned and retains a text quote for rebinding to a new selection. A sidebar panel filters the current note's active, resolved and orphaned annotations. Gutter markers and the hover control work only in Live Preview, not Reading view. A public method lets other plugins create annotations, but no AI workflow is included. The plugin makes no network requests and requires no account or API key.

The Storyteller Comic Drafter plugin provides a dedicated editor for `.comic` scripts, with pages, panels and lettering blocks that can be rearranged by dragging. Page, panel and balloon numbers update automatically. Its block palette includes dialogue, captions, thoughts and sound effects, alongside custom types and reusable blocks. Text supports combined formatting and coloured highlights, while margin comments allow threaded replies and links to notes. Read mode displays a clean script and lets you return to editing by double clicking a line. Projects keep issues in reading order and show live statistics for pages, words, panels and speakers. Word exports preserve page breaks, comments, highlights and revision markers, with batch export available for projects. Each issue belongs to only one project. The plugin makes no network requests and requires Obsidian 1.5.7 or newer.

The Custom Comments plugin provides a flexible way to insert personalized comment markers into your notes using keyboard shortcuts. Instead of being limited to built-in HTML or Markdown comment styles, you can define your own templates with `{cursor}` as a placeholder to control where the cursor lands after insertion. The plugin supports multiple marker sets, each with its own toggle and command, allowing you to maintain different types of comment formats for different contexts. It also offers a word-only mode that quickly toggles comments for a single word at the cursor position. For advanced setups, you can reload marker commands without restarting the plugin, making it easier to experiment with multiple formats.

The Simple Editorial plugin adds lightweight editorial commenting tools for manuscript editing on iPhone and macOS using plain Markdown and native comment syntax. It has a persistent Comment Mode that turns the first text typed at an empty cursor into a `%% comment %%` block and keeps that mode active while you move between Markdown notes, until Obsidian or the plugin reloads. The Toggle comment command can insert empty comment markers, wrap a selection or remove markers when the cursor is already inside a comment. It also colours comments and native strikethrough in `#C64A3D` inside the editor, while normal editing actions like paste, undo, redo and drag and drop stay unchanged.

The Comments plugin introduces a lightweight comment system that enables collaborative note-taking through inline callouts. Comments follow a structured format with author name and date, and can be quickly added via command or managed through a side panel. This dedicated view displays all comments in the current note and allows users to navigate to, reply to, or delete comments with simple clicks. Comments remain hidden in Reading mode and during exports like PDF, making them ideal for internal feedback or collaborative editing without cluttering the final output. It's particularly useful for teams or individuals reviewing notes together.
