The GridExplorer plugin enhances note browsing in Obsidian by introducing a grid-based view for notes and folders. It offers multiple display modes, including folder view for structured navigation, bookmark mode for quick access to saved notes, and search results mode for visually organizing search queries. Users can customize the grid by adjusting item width and setting default sorting preferences, such as sorting by name, modification time, or randomly.

The Vault Shelf plugin turns the vault into a browsable library where the same note can appear in multiple books and shelves without moving the file. It starts with Favourites, Encyclopedia, Years, Months, People and Tags and the shelf builder can group notes by the whole vault, a tag, person or folder, then shape books by title, year, month, ISO week, person, tag, folder or another property. Notes open as a two page spread with contents, search, rendered links, embeds, callouts, tasks, tables and code. It keeps ribbons, reading history, activity counts and manual collections, supports keyboard controls, reduced motion and a plain list mode and it works locally without network requests.
