Excel validation rules provide searchable dropdowns and checks for numbers, dates and text length. It reloads workbooks when files change, flags possible sync conflict copies and creates a backup on the first save of each session. Desktop can access workbooks outside the vault and resolve OneDrive paths across computers, while mobile is limited to files inside the vault. Only edited cells change and other workbook content is preserved. Formulas are stored but not calculated until Excel opens the file.
