How to Install

From within Obsidian

From Obsidian v0.9.8+, you can activate this plugin within Obsidian by doing the following:

1. Open Settings > Third-party plugin
2. Make sure Safe mode is off
3. Click Browse community plugins
4. Search for "Monokakido Copilot"
5. Click Install
6. Once installed, close the community plugins window and activate the newly installed plugin

Manually installing the plugin From GitHub

1. Download the Latest Release from the Releases section of the GitHub Repository
2. Put files to your vault's plugins folder: <vault>/.obsidian/plugins/monokakido-copilot
3. Reload Obsidian
4. If prompted about Safe Mode, you can disable safe mode and enable the plugin. Otherwise head to Settings, third-party plugins, make sure safe mode is off and enable the plugin from there.

Note: The .obsidian folder may be hidden. On macOS you should be able to press Command+Shift+Dot to show the folder in Finder.

Development tests

Use Node.js 24 and install the locked dependencies with npm ci.

• npm test: run the automated utility tests.
• npm test -- --test-name-pattern="Japanese": filter tests by name.
• npm run check: run zero-warning lint, tests, TypeScript checking and the production build. GitHub Actions runs this for pushes, pull requests and releases.

The tests use Node's built-in test runner and the existing esbuild dependency. They exercise the real TypeScript utilities with mocked Obsidian APIs, settings, network and clipboard boundaries; no running Obsidian instance or live service is needed. Coverage includes cursor word extraction, analysis request handling, dictionary URLs and history writes. Dialog layout, keyboard shortcuts and real vault behavior still require checks inside Obsidian.
