Description
Category: Learning & Knowledge Management

The Come Through plugin enables users to create and review flashcards using the FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) algorithm. It introduces a unique way to define flashcard fronts and backs using custom code blocks inside note sections, with each side linked via a shared ID. This structure allows cards to span across multiple notes while maintaining clear pairings. Users can organise cards into decks, initiate reviews from the ribbon or command palette, and enjoy a minimal YAML-based syntax for flexibility. It's especially useful for learners, students, or professionals who rely on spaced repetition to retain information over time.

Sort by Retrievability

Retrievability is the estimated probability that you will be able to recall a review unit right now, i.e., the likelihood you will rate Hard, Good, or Easy. It’s often recommended to review your content sorted by ascending retrievability when you have a large backlog, i.e., when you haven’t rated in a while (see the Ratings left in the new info views below), because you are then rating the content you are least likely to remember (according to the algorithm) first.

You can toggle sort order between due and retrievability with the Order by retrievability item in the More options menu of the review view or set the sort order via the Command palette (see below).

  • Sorting is per open review tab/window, meaning that you can be reviewing one queue in one tab/window sorted by retrievability while other tabs/windows are simultaneously open for other review queues sorted by, e.g., due date.
  • Review units with a retrievability over 95% are considered done and are therefore not included in the queue when sorting by retrievability (when sorting by due date, however, the same unit might be included if it is in fact due).

Review Info

In order to view various info about the current review queue and review unit there is now

  • a table (that can be toggled on/off) shown at the bottom when reviewing, showing the most relevant info, and
  • a modal window showing all available info.

Info about the current review queue:

Name Shown inline Description
Total units No The total number of review units in the current queue.
Sort order No Current sort order: due or retrievability.
Ratings left Yes If sort order is set to due, the number of review units left in the current review queue before noon, before eight o'clock in the evening, and before four o'clock tomorrow morning. If sort order is set to retrievability, the number of review units left in the current review queue below 85, 90, and 95 percent.

Info about the current review unit:

Name Shown inline Description
Retrievability Yes (shown on first row when sorting by retrievability) Retrievability at the current time and at the unit’s due date.
Due Yes (shown on first row when sorting by due date) The review unit’s due date.
Last reviewed Yes Date when the unit was reviewed last time.
Ratings Yes Total number of times the current review unit has been rated.
Scheduled days No The number of days between the last rating and the next determined due date. Also known as the repetition interval.
Stage No This review unit’s current stage in the learning process. One of New, Learning, Review, or Relearning.
Lapses No Total number of times you have forgotten this review unit after it was considered learned. In other words, each time you rated Again when the state was Review.
Created No The date this review unit was created/declared in the source note.

Commands

While reviewing, the following commands are available from the Command palette, most of which are also available from the More options menu of the review view.

  • Show info opens a window with all information about the current review queue and review unit.
  • Open source note navigates to the note that defines the current review unit (previously available only from the More options menu).
  • Toggle inline info displays the most relevant info about the current review queue and review unit inline at the bottom when reviewing, as well as a See more button that will open the window with all available info.
  • Rate ease/good/hard/again allows you to rate the current review unit. Only available when the back side is showing (when you also can rate using the rating buttons or the 1, 2, 3, 4 keyboard shortcuts).
  • Set sort order to due
  • Set sort order to retrievability

Other

  • Review: Automatically make Thai script slightly larger than the default font size for better visual balance and readability.
  • Metadata: Store the date on which review units were created in order to display the date in the info window. Review units that were created before this version will default to show just 2025.

Removed

  • Removed review-specific actions from the tab header menu. Access them from the More options menu or the Command palette (when reviewing) instead.
