Warm Press

A book, not a website.

Serif throughout, warm paper, soft ink, generous leading, almost no chrome. The note sits on the page as a lighter sheet; the sidebars and status bar are a shade deeper, like a book on a desk rather than a floating panel. Nothing is uppercase, nothing casts a shadow, nothing has a hard edge.

Design notes

  • One typeface. Lora for body and interface, falling back through Iowan Old Style and Georgia. A book has no second typeface.
  • Warm neutrals, not grey. Cream paper and brown-black ink in light mode; warm brown-black and off-white in dark. Never charcoal, never glare.
  • Terracotta accent, with five muted callout tints (blue, sage, clay, gold, plum) that read against cream rather than sitting on it.
  • 38rem line width (~62 characters), 18px text, 1.8 line height.
  • Old-style figures and automatic hyphenation in rendered notes.

Install

Settings → Appearance → Themes → Browse → search "Warm Press".

Manually: copy theme.css and manifest.json into <vault>/.obsidian/themes/Warm Press/, then pick it under Appearance.

Fonts

Lora is not bundled. Install it locally for the intended look — otherwise the stack falls back to Iowan Old Style (macOS) or Georgia.
