The Local Backup plugin creates local vault backups on startup, on quit and at scheduled intervals, with separate output path settings for Windows and Unix environments. It supports include and exclude patterns with wildcard matching, so you can back up the whole vault, limit backups to selected folders and files or exclude specific paths after inclusion is applied. The plugin can retry failed runs, create one off backup files that are kept outside the normal cleanup cycle and manage backup retention through lifecycle settings. For large vaults it also offers an optional external archiver workflow for tools such as 7-Zip, WinRAR and Bandizip when direct backup work causes the app to stall.

The Disk Usage plugin helps users manage and monitor the storage of their Obsidian vault by generating detailed reports on file sizes. It aggregates file sizes by folder and file type, providing visual summaries and graphs to identify space usage. This plugin is particularly useful for detecting large files, optimizing folder structures, and managing storage limits for syncing services. While it doesn't account for actual disk space influenced by metadata or hidden files like `.obsidian`, it provides accurate proportional size measurements based on Obsidian's API. Users can generate reports as markdown files and compare size changes over time.
