Obsidian plugins with #pdf-annotation#

The PDF++ plugin turns links to PDF text selections into visible highlights inside the built in PDF viewer, so notes and source passages stay connected through plain markdown links. It can also add highlights and links directly into PDF files, manage page composition, edit outlines and labels, improve handling of internal PDF links and add faster copying tools through palettes, hotkeys, custom menus and template based link formats. The plugin extends backlinks with page filtering and hover sync, keeps PDF tabs and embeds more controllable and adds options for external app sync.

The ICOR for Life - PDF Annotation plugin turns PDF highlights into separate vault notes instead of leaving them trapped inside the document. You can select text, choose a colour and add your own comment, then the plugin saves the quote and your response as a note that can be linked, searched, collected on a topic page or dropped onto a canvas. It also supports box captures for charts and figures, stores those captures as PNG files and keeps every highlight painted over the PDF when you return. Each saved item links back to its exact place in the document, appears in a sidebar for the open PDF and stays usable on desktop and mobile. It never modifies the PDF or makes a network connection.

The BibLib plugin transforms your note vault into a comprehensive academic reference manager by representing each bibliographic entry as a Markdown file with CSL-JSON metadata stored in the YAML frontmatter. It integrates seamlessly with Zotero for one-click importing, supports DOI/ISBN lookups, and manages attachments like PDFs within your vault. Researchers can customize citekey generation, templates, and export citations as BibTeX or CSL-JSON for tools like Pandoc.

The Handwriting plugin adds pen based writing, highlighting, erasing, lasso selection and insert space tools directly on notes and PDFs while keeping the note itself as Markdown. It draws on a CodeMirror overlay, supports pressure sensitivity, palm rejection, pinch zoom, shape snap, undo and redo across ink and text, PDF flattening for export, PDF snipping, mouse input and lined or grid paper backgrounds. Ink is stored separately as one JSON sidecar per note inside the vault's .handwriting folder, linked by a single handwriting-page-id property when a note is first inked. Text content stays unchanged unless that one property line is added and hidden folders may need compatibility mode for some sync services.
