Shrek is Love

A layered swamp theme for Obsidian. Bog-dark grounds, onion-cream ink, ogre green for anything interactive, and wood-sign headings.

Install

From Obsidian's theme browser (recommended): Settings → Appearance → Themes → Manage, search "Shrek is Love", select it.

Manually:

  1. Download theme.css and manifest.json from this repo.
  2. In your vault, create the folder .obsidian/themes/Shrek is Love/ and put both files inside it.
  3. In Obsidian: Settings → Appearance → Themes, select Shrek is Love.

Swamp and Duloc

The theme has two modes:

  • Swamp is the dark mode. It is deep, warm-green, and low glare. The theme is made for this mode first.
  • Duloc is the light mode. Perfect place. Suspiciously tidy.

To switch, open Settings → Appearance → Base color scheme.

Options

Install the Style Settings community plugin, then open Settings → Style Settings → Shrek is Love.

Option What it does
Accent color Pick Ogre Green (default), Fiona Ember, Dragon Rose, Candle Gold or Donkey Grey. The accent changes links, buttons, tags, checkboxes, H1/H2 and the callout stripe.
Onion layers Adds two thin rings around every callout, like the layers of an onion. Off by default.
Plain headings Uses Georgia instead of the wood-sign font for headings.

Body text, muted text, links, tags, headings and button text pass WCAG AA contrast in both modes and with every accent. Faint text (placeholders, small hints) is lighter on purpose.

Cover image

The cover image is rendered from cover/index.html, which reads the palette from theme.css. After a palette change, run cover/render.sh (needs Google Chrome) to regenerate screenshot.png.

Credits

Headings use Rye by Sorkin Type, under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (see fonts-OFL.txt). The font is embedded in theme.css, so the theme loads nothing from the internet.

This is a fan-made theme. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by DreamWorks Animation.
