ICOR for Life - INKLINE

A vault that reads like pages, not like an interface.

Two rooms: an ink room for the dark, a paper room for the light. One marker orange for the few things that need your attention. Your highlights and your comments render the way they would in a well-marked book.

What it is for

Most themes add colour. This one takes it away.

When everything is coloured, nothing stands out, and a vault you read for hours becomes a vault you squint at. Almost everything here is ink on paper. The one orange is reserved, so when you see it, it means something.

What you get

Two full modes, ink and paper, designed as one system rather than one inverted into the other.

A handwritten layer. Blockquotes, note, tip and quote callouts and your %%comments%% render in a handwriting face, like a teacher writing in the margin. ==Highlights== are a marker wash, no glow.

Mermaid diagrams that survive dark mode. Obsidian's own dark mode inverts the whole diagram, which turns a careful drawing into a photo negative. This colours them properly in both rooms, with your reading typeface inside the nodes.

Room icons for numbered folders. A root folder named 00 through 07 drops its number in the sidebar and gains an inked icon in its own hue. Built for the ICOR for Life vault; harmless in any other, where it simply matches nothing.

Fonts that make no requests. Four typefaces ship inside the theme itself. It connects to nothing.

Getting started

Requires Obsidian 1.5.8 or newer.

Settings, Appearance, Themes, Manage, search "ICOR for Life - INKLINE", install, use.

Everything is on out of the box.

Changing it

Install the Style Settings plugin and the theme appears there with five switches: turn off the handwritten layer, hide the banner, turn off room icons and colours, reduce Obsidian's own controls, and hide the left ribbon.

The last two are off by default because they take a control away from Obsidian, and a theme should not do that to a vault it was just installed into.

The plugin is optional. The theme is complete without it.

What it touches

  • Nothing. It is a theme. It reads no notes, writes no files and makes no network request of any kind.
