GithubGraph View Modes
Graph View Modes is an Obsidian plugin for changing the built-in Graph View into project-oriented visual layouts. It adds a dedicated View section to Graph View controls, letting you switch from the native graph to folder-based tree, horizontal, column, and radial views.
Features
- Built-in Graph View integration: Change the graph visualization directly from Obsidian's existing Graph View controls.
- Folder-based layouts: View your vault structure by folders and notes instead of note backlinks.
- Multiple layout modes: Switch between native graph, tree, horizontal tree, folder columns, and radial folder layouts.
- Flexible node display: Choose between box nodes or dot nodes with labels below them.
- Adjustable sizing: Resize nodes, text, and spacing from the Graph View controls.
- Persistent view settings: Keep your selected layout, root folder, node style, sizing, and collapsed panel state across sessions.
- Local interaction: Pan, zoom, reset the view, open notes, and set folders as the active root directly from the graph.
Usage
- Opening graph view: Open Obsidian's built-in Graph View from the sidebar or workspace.
- Changing layout: Open the View section in Graph View controls and choose Native, Tree, Horizontal tree, Folder columns, or Radial folder.
- Selecting root: Use the Root dropdown to show only a selected folder and its child folders or notes.
- Changing node style: Use the Node dropdown to switch between Box and Dot views.
- Adjusting spacing: Use Box and Gap sliders to change node size, text size, and distance between nodes.
- Navigating the graph: Scroll to zoom, drag empty space to pan, select notes to open them, or select folders to use them as the root.
Privacy
Graph View Modes operates entirely locally and offline within your Obsidian vault. It does not make any external network requests or collect telemetry. All settings are stored locally in standard Obsidian plugin data.
